Christmas Bite: Company of Wolves
9 December 2021,10:00 am - 12:15 pm£65.00
Contrary to popular belief, fairy tales such as ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ originated as cautionary stories intended for adults and the worlds they created were dark, frightening and particularly cruel to young girls who strayed from the path of convention. In this one-off class we will explore the ways in which Angela Carter puts wolf mythology at the centre of her stunning collection of dark tales, The Bloody Chamber as she probes the gender politics operating within earlier versions, reinventing them for modern times.
We will focus in detail on two tales from the collection: ‘The Company of Wolves’ and ‘Wolf Alice’
This class will be taught in-person; Thursday 9th December; 10 am – 12.15 (£65)
